Occupational Therapist

Temp to perm ( 12 weeks minimum temp)

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Base will be Weymouth but required to travel within the Dorset Region

CMD Recruitment is supporting a UK registered Charity in the Dorset area committed to providing quality employment services to disadvantaged members of the community through a range of programmes within the Employment and Skills sector.

A position has become available to join a dynamic team, working across the whole of the Dorset Region to support participants to move towards and into employment.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. The project will run until 31st December 2019.

My client has developed an innovative programme to help people with a mental illness gain and maintain employment. The programme combines best-practice vocational skills development with comprehensive ongoing support to employee and employer. The programme is developed to help people living with a mental illness gain and maintain employment, the programme combines evidence-based skills development with a graded pathway to paid employment. There is a particular focus on social and cognitive functioning skills development, as well as peer support, outdoor adventure activities, and formal and informal group work.

The Occupational Therapist will provide clinical guidance and Occupational Therapy practice support to vocational coaches, peer coaches, volunteer peer mentors, student occupational therapists and programme manager. The Occupational Therapist will also deliver some 1-1 assessments and group learning activities to participants.

You will support people who are severely affected by mental illness, build key skills and confidence to increase social and economic participation including maintaining employment.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the mental health and/or disability employment sector, ability to work as part of a team in an environment of innovation, have relevant qualifications (Occupational Therapy), excellent communication skills and a commitment to empowerment though employment.
