Our Client is a Global Market Leader within the Electrical Manufacture Industry and have requested the support to recruit a Drive Development Engineer.

Summary of role:

The successful candidate will be experienced in technologies such as Industrial, mobile robots and advanced automation technologies. These sectors have seen remarkable development over recent years. Our Client vision is to develop intelligent servo systems in order to align with current market requirements and technologically advanced solutions are vital to realise this vision.

The Drive and Electronics Development Engineer will be working as part of an innovative team of engineers directly involved in cutting-edge activities with the main responsibility to develop and validate new products including hardware and software.

The team's activities are a vital factor for the development of our Client.

An in-depth knowledge of the company's products and their applications is required to provide informed and considered decision-making whilst considering the impact on other areas of the business. In order to achieve that, comprehensive training on the technologies and products will be provided.

The candidate focus will be for the concept design, development, testing and validation of servo inverters and related servo motor electronics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Controls or Computer Engineering (minimum 2:1) or similar.
  • PLC, HMI and related industrial-equipment programming
  • Schematic & PCB design for electrical & electronic Control Systems
  • Simulation, testing, and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of electronics design (Digital and Analogue)
  • Power Electronic knowledge
  • Previous experience of robotic or automation applications is desirable

Core competencies

  • Drive/power electronics theory.
  • Knowledge of C, Visual Basic, assembly language or other programming skills.
  • Practical understanding of microcontrollers, software and signal processing techniques.
  • Experience of writing software (either PC applications or embedded software).
  • Competence in mathematical modelling (i.e. Matlab).
  • Practical mechanical and electrical build skills.
  • A systematic and logical approach to given tasks.
