Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team and help achieve growth ambitions. The candidate will be responsible for managing several contracts across the business, including contracts delivered alongside or through partners. This key role will be responsible for working with the commercial and operations team across the whole process of contract winning and implementation as well as helping the business maximise value out of the contracts.
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • Preparing estimates for projects at tender stage and checking proposals
  • Obtaining and comparing Sub-Contractor quotations for projects
  • Negotiating rates and prices with clients
  • Interpreting contracts to fully understand the project scope, restraints, commercial risks and responsibilities and guiding the business in achieving maximum value
  • Implement best practice commercial processes, including accurate budgeting and forecasting
  • Monitoring contract costs and optimising expenditure
  • Prepare accurate progress reports and cash flow forecasts
  • Ensure the project team adheres to all contractual requirements and record keeping
  • Tracking progress of projects on site from time to time and meeting clients where necessary
  • Monthly applications and valuations for works
  • Preparing invoices on time and in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Identifying, pricing and agreeing project variations with clients’ QS
  • Contractual correspondence with clients and sub-contractors
  • Settling final accounts with clients’ QS
Essential Skills:
  • Quantity Surveying qualification or similar
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Commercially astute and an appreciation of how to deliver value
  • Strong analytical skills and diligent attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Knowledge of NEC form of contract or similar
  • Ability to work clearly and accurately under pressure and tight timescales
  • Driving License
