FAQ's: What You Need to Know
At CMD, our job is to guide you through the process of recruiting and match the best candidates to our clients. We like to make things as easy as possible for everyone involved so to help you understand our process, here is a short list of our most commonly asked questions:
How do I register?
You can register online and one of our consultants will be in touch!
If you do want to register in person, we’re usually very busy helping candidates find jobs, so we recommend calling and making an appointment first so we can be prepared for your visit before dropping by any of our offices in Calne, Melksham, Devizes or Bath. Once an appointment has been made, come and register at your nearest CMD office.
What type of recruitment does CMD do?
We recruit for both temporary and permanent roles across the UK in most industries, including industrial and driving, engineering and technical, administration and customer service, accountancy and finance, PA and secretarial, sales and marketing, IT and design, HR and training, welfare to work and lifelong learning.
What does CMD need from me?
- An updated CV with all relevant information, including any relevant qualifications
- A filled-out application form
And regular contact! We will call you with regular updates, but we ask you to remember to do the same and inform us of any changes or adjustments to your application; even just telling us how you may be feeling can help the recruitment process.
Does CMD charge?
Finding a job through CMD is a completely free service and you won’t be charged at any point of the recruitment process.
Can I work with multiple recruiters?
You can, but we never recommend it. When you register with CMD, we make sure your application has all relevant information a potential employer may need. If another recruiter puts you forward for a role, the details they have for you may be incomplete or simply wrong. Once an employer has accepted this, they will not re-take your CV, meaning without your full details, you are not being portrayed to the client in the best way possible.
How did CMD find me?
If you’ve uploaded your CV to an online job board (Indeed, Reed, Monster etc) we will have found your application and contacted you from there. We also search for candidates that fit specific roles, or you may have been recommended by another professional.
Can you help me with my CV?
Yes, we can help with all parts of your application including CV improvements and interview prep.
Will I receive feedback from my interview?
We promise feedback for every interview you attend, and will normally call you after your interview to see how YOU think it went and have a chat about any positives and negatives.
Will my application be confidential?
All applications are kept confidential and we don’t share your details with anyone other than the jobs we put you forward for, and we’ll always ask your consent before we do this.
What if I can’t make an interview?
If something comes up and you cannot make your interview then simply let us know as early as possible, as sometimes a client might have had to manage more than one person’s diary to arrange this and leaves you in a better light for them to reschedule the interview.
Will I get holiday pay if I’m on a temporary contract?
Yes, temporary contracts will pay holiday pay.
How likely are you to find me a job?
We endeavour to find a role for all our candidates as quickly possible, and we successfully placed over 450 permanent candidates in 2017 and put over 1000 candidates in temporary assignments.
We ask that all candidates manage their expectations and understand we are doing everything we can to find them a suitable job that fits themselves and the employer. We will never put you in a role that doesn’t fit, just for the sake of placing you.
